Taupo is blessed with a number of activities and attractions. There is something for everyone from those seeking an adrenalin rush to those wanting a relaxing break away.
No matter what the weather there are a number of things to get you out of your motel room and exploring the region.

If you are looking for excitement why not do a skydive over the Great Lake, dive from the Bungy platform, Jetboat the Aratiatia Rapids on the Waikato River or Jetboat to the bottom of the spectacular Huka Falls. Wanting a little less action then maybe a cruise on Lake Taupo or a scenic floatplane or Helicopter flight over the majestic mountains of the Tongariro National Park might be more your style.
Enjoy water activities such as kayaking or whitewater rafting. Winter lets you experience the thrill of snowboarding or skiing on the slopes of the nearby Mt Ruapehu ski fields.
No visit to TaupÅ is complete without witnessing the power of the famous Huka Falls. Whilst in the area you can take a trip to the Honey Hive, Volcanic Centre or enjoy freah prawns at the Huka Prawn Park.
There is an artistically diverse arts trail with must see galleries and studio's including the one at Lava Glass on SH5. After a busy day relax in a geothermally heated hotpool.
We are lucky enough to have a number of fine golf courses within close proximity to the town centre and a range of walking tracks to suit all fitness levels.
Great Lake Taupo is home to both the Rainbow and Brown Trout and fly fishing is one of the most popular recreational activities. However the fishing is controlled and you must purchase a licence and may only catch three trout per day.
There are a number of guides who use their inside knowledge to show you the best fishing spots on the Lake and in the nearby rivers.

The Tongariro Alpine Crossing is widely regarded as New Zealand's best one day hike and offers great diversity from snow-capped volcanoes, crater lakes to rainforest and waterfalls. Mt Ruapheu hosts the two North Island ski fields.
This is a charming seaside city with perfectly preserved Art Deco buildings. Hawkes Bay is the oldest wine growing region in New Zealand. It is also home to the spectacular Cape Kidnappers golf course.
